1. The definition of musical texture Musical texture is how much is going on in the music at a given time, and is used to describe the relationship between melody and harmony. 

2. The differences between types of musical textures. Some types of textures include: Monophonic (one melodic line with no harmony/counterpart, little rhythmic accompaniment), Homophonic (has one clear melodic line with chord accompaniment used to fill in the chord and has the same rhythm as melody), Polyphonic (more than one independent melody played at the same time) and Heterophonic (only one melody, but different variations of it are being played at the same time, not familiar to western music), and

3. Texture clues by sight Monophonic= One melodic line, Homophonic= a melodic line with chords, Polyphonic= more than one melodic line happening at the same time. 

4. Texture clues by sound Monophonic= Only one layer of sound (you hear only one independent with no other things in the background), Homophonic= you hear the one clear melody with some chords behind it, polyphonic= multiple independent melodies are playing at the same time, like a canon or a round.

• Would you describe the form of America as being binary or ternary?  Explain your answer. Binary, because it is in AB form that is repeated (the A section is not the only one repeated) 

• Would you describe the form of Swing Low Sweet Chariot as being binary or ternary?  Explain your answer. Ternary since it goes ABA, the A section is repeated in the end with "sweet low".

• Use the 3rd Movement Autumn from Vivaldi's Four Seasons to provide the Letter Code(ABCDE, etc.) that symbolizes the form
