Step 4:

After completing the self assessment, I have reached conclusions on my weaknesses and strengths. My perceived strengths is that you can always count on me to get work in on time, and I am pretty good at organizing work flow. I am good at time management and making sure things will get done when needed to be, and I will try to get a head start on things while I can. What I'm most worried about in this class is doing the work just to get it done and reach the end goals, because I really do want a full understanding of the content. I can tend to get distracted by my peers, especially in a class as loose as this. But, I will try my best to get the work in on time while simultaneously learning as much as I can and grasping the content to the best of my ability.

Step 1

  • What is it that you hope to know and be able to do at the conclusion of the class?

I hope I can bring the skills I learn in this class to other music classes I am taking currently and also bring them to future music classes I will take.

  • What are three things you would like to achieve in order to count your semester as successful?

I would love to see the progress in knowledge that I've made in real life situations, such as bringing new things to the table in band.

  • How motivated are you to achieve these goals?

I would say I am very motivated to kill this course. Hopefully in a good way.

  • How will you increase your motivation if it becomes low during the course of the semester?

I will organize my deadlines and make a detailed plan of when things need to be done rather than going with the flow. I will also take notes to get everything out in one place because that always helps me.

  • What strategies can you use to achieve your goals?

Like I said, I will maybe make a planner to have specific dates that things should get done, and I will make pretty notes.

  • What might interfere with your achievement and how can you prevent this interference?

Interacting with my peers in ways that aren't advantageous to my learning can interfere with my personal achievment, and also getting bogged down with the amount of work that needs to be done. If I get too stressed I can start to shut down and pretend like I don't like it to avoid it, but I just have to push through it and set personal time management goals to get it done. And it I feel like I am getting distracted by peers I may need to isolate myself to get things done independently.
